Corporate Member Black Sky Sends Kyle Gullette to Talk About Customers in Aerospace

Kyle Gullette serves as a senior account manager at BlackSky. He joined our community to talk about how customers in the aerospace industry are interacting with the latest technologies and how important it is to understand the people involved in the industry along with the technology.

Kyle talked about how important his role is in making BlackSky possible. In handling commercial and government sectors, his team provides daily technical support towards BlackSky’s platforms that enable users to task and receive satellite imagery around the globe. Much of this technical support is not engineering related, but understanding how to utilize the platform in a way that allows the customer to get what they need.

Students asked about the rules related to satellite imagery and the policy landscape. Kyle talked about how little regulation is involved in taking satellite imagery due to international relations. As one student put, “no one wants to be the first country to outlaw space.”

Kyle also talked about his military career in the Navy and how that experience has helped him throughout his careers. A couple of students who are active in the Ohio National Guard asked questions about the transition to civilian life and selling their skills to employers in the industry. Kyle noted that his experience has been seen as an asset to BlackSky, especially that he worked with geospatial intelligence from a military perspective which allows Kyle to provide even more insight into the application of the technology rather than just the technology.

We want to thank Kyle for making the time to join our center and meet with students in-person. And thank you, as always, to our students who make events like this thought provoking and fun to attend.
