Michael Pires
Michael Pires is the Project Manager for the Power of Home program and Grant Manager for The Ohio State Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy at the John Glenn College of Public Affairs.
Before joining The Ohio State University in 2019, Michael has successfully implemented and managed national and statewide affordable housing and foreclosure prevention programs for the Ohio Housing Finance Agency, NeighborWorks America, and HUD-approved housing counseling and community development agencies throughout Ohio. Michael came to John Glenn College because he was passionate about collaborating with Dr. Stephanie Moulton and her research on post-purchase support for new homeowners with the goal of creating an innovated solution to support distressed communities and expand the middle class through the Alliance for the American Dream initiative.
With over ten years’ experience in not-for-profit management and grant administration, Michael has expertise in facilitating and managing complex service agreements, innovative field experience, and relationship management skills that will coordinate engagement with community leaders, external partners, and corporate sponsors for John Glenn College. Additionally, Michael recently joined (2020) the team at The Ohio State Battelle Center and is excited to manage the center’s funding and to contribute towards the mission of making sense of complex technical information and preparing future technologists to innovate in the public interest.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in sociology and a minor in criminology from The Ohio State University. He also serves on numerous national and local advisory council boards aimed at increasing homeownership for low-and-moderate income households, minorities, and single-family households.
