Harrison Kearby, Mechanical Engineer, Lockheed Martin and alum of Ohio State Battelle Center.

Harrison graduated as a member of the Air & Space Student Community at Ohio State Battelle Center and started his career at Battelle Inc. After spending some time there, Harrison found a position with Lockheed Martin that spoke more to his passions and allowed him to grow professionally. Harrison noted how important it is to not feel stuck in a position and to be on the lookout for new opportunities.

Harrison also helped guide students in finding value in the internships they are able to work. He noted that even internships that aren’t in the exact field or don’t turn out as expected can be valuable information in helping students understand what they are looking for and what they are hoping to avoid in their careers.

There was also an emphasis on gaining essential skills including clear communication and networking that help provide better opportunities for students in their professional careers. Harrison encouraged students to build their networks as much as possible and to not be shy about reaching out to guest speakers through the Community Conversation series, especially himself.

One of our favorite parts of running these communities is seeing our alumni entering their professions and continuing to give back to our students. Thank you to Harrison for making the time to join our community and thank you to the students for an engaging event and all of your questions!
