On Tuesday, October 31st members of the Battelle Center for Science, Engineering, and Public Policy* will be working at the Central Ohio Stand Down event at the Convention Center downtown. Stand Down is an event for veterans, especially vulnerable vets, to get connected to social services and professional resources. Our aim is to gather survey responses from this priority population about their ongoing social service, health, and professional needs.

The survey – called the Veterans Needs Assessment – is an effort to identify the physical, mental, emotional, financial, educational, and social health needs of US Armed Forces veterans, active-duty personnel, and those who care for them in central Ohio. Based on a holistic model of wellness, the funding organization (Endeavors**) seeks to improve supportive services and opportunities to flourish for all military-connected individuals in central Ohio and across the state.

What we’re looking for is volunteers to help gather survey responses at the event. We have a set of iPads for volunteers to use as they mingle. We have a table from 8am-2pm and are (ideally) looking for folks to staff either the morning shift (7.30-10.30) or afternoon shift (10-1). Clearly, however, we would welcome anyone who has any time to give.
