Grant Davis grew up in Massillon, Ohio and went to college at the Ohio State University where he studied Aerospace Engineering. During his undergrad, he did research on rocket nozzle regenerative cooling channel geometries for nuclear thermal propulsion systems. After graduation, Grant went to BWXT Advanced Technology where he began his career working as a Systems Engineer on Project PELE, the first deployment of a generation IV high-temperature gas cool reactor for the DoD. From Project PELE, Grant went to work on various programs at BWXT such as BWXT’s Advanced Nuclear Reactor (BANR), NASA’s Fuel and Moderator Development Program (FMDP), NASA’s Fission Surface Power (FSP), and various other terrestrial/space application of nuclear systems. Today, Grant works as System Engineer on DRACO (Demonstration Rocket for Agile Cislunar Operations), DARPA’s program to deploy the first nuclear propulsion system to produce thrust in space. Grant’s goal is to become an integral member of the team deploying nuclear systems in space and on other planets.
